Before she became a nationally bestselling author, Lisa Jackson was a mother struggling to keep food on the table by writing novels, hoping against hope that someone would pay her for them. Today, neck deep in murder, her books appear on The New York Times, the USA Today, and thePublishers Weekly national bestseller lists.

With over thirty bestsellers to her name, Lisa Jackson is a master of taking readers to the edge of sanity – and back – in novels that buzz with dangerous secrets and deadly passions.  She continues to be fascinated by the minds and motives of both her killers and their pursuers—the personal, the professional and downright twisted.  As she builds the puzzle of relationships, actions, clues, lies and personal histories that haunt her protagonists, she must also confront the fear and terror faced by her victims, and the harsh and enduring truth that, in the real world, terror and madness touch far too many lives and families.

Title: After She’s Gone
Author: Lisa Jackson
Publisher: Kensington Books

Cassie Kramer and her younger sister, Allie, learned the hazards of fame long ago. Together, they’d survived the horror of a crazed fan who nearly killed their mother, former Hollywood actress Jenna Hughes. Still, Cassie moved to L.A., urging Allie to follow. As a team, they’d take the town by storm.  But Allie, finally free of small-town Oregon, and just that little bit more beautiful, also proved to be more talented—and driven. Where Cassie got bit parts, Allie rose to stardom. But now her body double has been shot on the set of her latest movie—and Allie is missing.
Police discover that the last call to Allie’s phone came from Cassie, though she has no recollection of making it. Instead of looking like a concerned relative, Cassie is starting to look like a suspect—the jealous sister who finally grew sick of playing a supporting role. As the tabloids go into a frenzy, Cassie ends up on a Portland psych ward. Is she just imagining the sinister figure who comes to her bedside, whispering about Allie—a visitor of whom there is no record? Is someone trying to help—or drive her mad?

Convinced she’s the only one who can find Allie, Cassie checks herself out of the hospital. But a sudden slew of macabre murders— each victim masked with a likeness of a member of Cassie’s family—makes Cassie fear for her safety and her sanity. The only way to end the nightmare is to find out what really happened to Allie. And with each discovery, Cassie realizes that no one can be trusted to keep her safe—least of all herself…

The Day Before Review

Title: The Day Before
Author: Liana Brooks
Publisher: Harper Voyage Impulse
Pages: 304
Genre: Thriller
Format: Kindle

A body is found in the Alabama wilderness. The question is: Is it a human corpse ... or is it just a piece of discarded property?

Agent Samantha Rose has been exiled to a backwater assignment for the Commonwealth Bureau of Investigation, a death knell for her career. But then Sam catches a break - a murder - that could give her the boost she needs to get her life back on track. There's a snag, though: the body is a clone, and technically that means it's not a homicide. And yet, something about the body raises questions, not only for her, but for coroner Linsey Mackenzie.

The more they dig, the more they realize nothing about this case is what it seems ... and for Sam, nothing about Mac is what it seems, either.
This case might be the way out for her, but that way could be in a bodybag.
A thrilling new mystery from Liana Brooks, The Day Before will have you looking over your shoulder and questioning what it means to be human.

Review
5 out of 5 stars

The Day Before is a great read. I truly enjoyed it. CBI agent Samantha Rose is not fond of her post in the middle of nowhere. A new case may be the chance she was looking for to get out of the small town and into another posting. The case may not be at all as it appears. With the help of ME and fellow agent Mackenzie Sam will have to follow the case wherever it might lead.

I could not put this book down. I ended up staying up late in order to finish it. The writing is smooth and the storyline fast paced. At first I wasn't sure how I felt about the characters as the didn't resonate immediately with me. However, the characters grow throughout the book and the reader gains insight into the characters and their past. I have to say Mac was my favorite. I loved him!

I would definitely recommend this to fans of suspense and science fiction!

To Helen Back Review

4 out of 5 stars

This is a cute little cozy mystery. It was a quick read with fun characters. The once piece I was missing was Helen's motivation for getting involved with the investigation. It seemed like she more fell into it than anything else. Overall I would recommend this to fans of cozy mysteries.

Well I have a lot of news to share. There is so much going on! Run and Stand are both doing very well. Run is rated 4.27 on Goodreads and Stand is rated 4.30. I am always amazed when people tell me that they enjoyed the books. It seems a little unbelievable.

Festival Season is here and I have several that I am hoping to attend. First there is the Caladium Festival in Central Florida on July 24 – 26. Then there is the Baltimore Book Festival on September 27th. Then finally the Collingswood Book Festival on October 3rd. I am really excited to bring all three of the Charlotte Marshall Mystery books to the festivals this year. (Except the one in July!)

Book three Redemption is really exciting. I think you all will love it. There is so much happening and the characters grow so much. At this point I should have a cover to show you in July and I am expecting a release in early to mid-August.

In June there will new covers coming out for both Run and Stand. I am really excited to work with Wicked Book Covers on the new covers. I will have a cover reveal on June 1st.

Once Redemption is out I will be working on my next book, a stand alone novel, titled They. It is a suspense/horror book that takes place in a little town plagued by a mysterious evil. I’ve had this book in my head for years. It will be a joy to share the story with you all.

Thanks so much for your time and I hope to see some of you at the festivals!

Mr. Mercedes Review

4 out of 5 stars

Mr. Mercedes is my second Stephen King book. It is a fairly straight forward murder/suspense. What sets is apart from other books is the characters. The main character Bill Hodges is perfect as a retired cop given new life when contacted by a murderer. The villain is both sympathetic and repellant. I found it difficult to read some scenes with him because he was so evil, but at the same time the author made me understand him as well. The supporting characters Jerome and Holly really made the book for me. They were funny, smart, and unexpected. I would definitely recommend this book for fans of mystery/suspense.

Beautiful Lies Review

3 out of 5 stars

Beautiful Lies is my first Lisa Unger book. Our main character Ridley Jones receives a letter from someone claiming to be her father. This letter opens a can of worms as Ridley starts looking into her family and her past. Beautiful Lies is well written and intriguing; however, for a thriller I found it rather un-thrilling. The style of writing contained several asides to the reader. Once or twice I would have found it powerful; however, the constant asides took me out of the action. Also the character often philosophizes about life. While this creates some great quotes, I felt it slowed the story and at times seemed didactic. In all I would read more by Lisa Unger and I did enjoy the story, but it isn't a great read for me.
